Peperami - "Gump" / first crowdsourced ad after split with Lowe

So, here it is. The first Peperami ad after Unilever left Lowe. The previous Peperami ads in the archive are all claymation, which brings a certain charm to the nutty animal that is immediately lost in this 3D, IMHO. I think the director of most Claymation ads, Ken Lidster, might agree.

This ad was conceived and scripted by Rowland Davies, an ex-creative director from Munich. He submitted a joint entry with Kevin Baldwin, a copywriter from London, who came up with a poster treatment of the crazy animal-kids to go with it. Their joint effort beat out 1,185 entries and won the $10,000 prize handled by crowdsourcing specialist Idea Bounty. The 30 second ad will air on ITV1 during 'Coronation Street' on 23 August.

Lowe handled the Peperami campaign for Unilever for 15 years before they split last August.

The new agency, BPL, think crowdsourcing is the best thing since sliced bread: "Innovative, hybrid working methods like this will open the door for the lower cost smaller agencies who are used to collaborating successfully with other agencies." says Emma Hughes, the managing director.
